Taste the whiskey neat first. Explore its aroma, texture and character. Then add a few drops of water and taste again. With a higher-strength whiskey, a small amount of water can soften the alcohol and reveal aromas and flavours that may otherwise remain hidden – allowing the whiskey to gradually open up in the glass.
